Brown Shoebox Swap

A couple of weeks ago I decided to sign up for my first-ever online swap. It works like this: a moderator or blogger somewhere comes up for an idea for a swap (in this case, it was filling a shoebox with a variety of brown-themed items, handmade or not, depending on your partner's preference). Anyone from the online community can sign up and join the swap. Then the moderator takes everyone's information, partners them up, and sends each participant their partner's likes and dislikes, blog address, and mailing address. So it's up to you to do the research on your swap partner, and create a box full of things that you hope she will like. I was partnered with Sherry and she received her box from me today (click here to see what all I sent her, as I forgot to take a picture before I sealed up the box). I had fun pillaging my fabrics to find my favorite browns! And I am expecting my box from her any day now. How exciting, my first swap! Next up is a doll quilt swap, which I've already started on (a "doll quilt" is basically a very small quilt, between 12x12 and 24x24 in size). Here's my work in progress (but this swap involved secret partners, so I cannot reveal her identity!). I wish it was a better lit photograph, but you can get the general gist from this. I went with a citrus-themed color palette: oranges, lemons, limes.

I can't wait to see your doll quilt when it's done. I just make regular patchwork tied throw type blankets. My sister-in-law is the quilter in our family. I have a couple of my Granny's quilts and treasure them. Anyway, I bet this little quilt of your turns out beautiful!
